In line with its core mission – improving the position and quality of life of persons with disabilities – the Heroes of the Belgrade Marathon Foundation, in cooperation with the Belgrade Sports Association for Persons with Disabilities and the Red Cross of Belgrade, supported the stay of a second group of children with disabilities at the Red Cross resort in Bogovađa.

This is the second consecutive year that children with disabilities have had the opportunity to spend time in nature, socialize, build confidence, and prepare for the upcoming autumn sports season.
Darko Habuš, Director of the Belgrade Marathon and Manager of the Heroes of the Belgrade Marathon Foundation, stated on this occasion:

“We love it most when summer arrives, because we know we will be with the children at the camp in Bogovađa. In general, the part of my work I value the most is the work through the Heroes of the Belgrade Marathon Foundation. The happiness shown by children and persons with disabilities when we provide them with support is immediate, sincere, and strongly motivating for all the steps that follow.”
“Today we came to visit the kids at the camp. We just finished a football match, and it was exciting right until the very end.”
“What is very important for us is that the children stay at the camp without their parents, with a strong focus on developing their socialization and various life skills.”
“Interest in the camp is greater than last year, so we hope that next year we will have three or even four groups.”

The children’s camp program is implemented thanks to the joint cooperation of the Heroes of the Belgrade Marathon Foundation, the Belgrade Sports Association for Persons with Disabilities, and the Red Cross of Belgrade.
Nikola Prica, Secretary of the Red Cross of Belgrade, highlighted the importance of this program:
“The recovery stay of the first group, which was at the camp from July 1 to July 6, went excellently. This valuable cooperation with the Heroes of the Belgrade Marathon Foundation and the Belgrade Sports Association for Persons with Disabilities made it possible for a second group of children to enjoy nature, activities, and socializing, thanks to the donated funds.”
Nemanja Radović, Secretary General of the Belgrade Sports Association for Persons with Disabilities, also stated:

“We say that our participants go on a recovery stay, but in reality it is an opportunity for genuine socializing and enjoying nature. We make no distinctions — everyone is welcome, regardless of the type of disability.”
Darko Habuš also expressed his gratitude to all partners and supporters of the program:
“This initiative is the result of excellent cooperation between the Heroes of the Belgrade Marathon Foundation, the Red Cross of Belgrade, and the Belgrade Sports Association for Persons with Disabilities. Thanks to this shared energy, today we are sending off the second group of children with disabilities to stay in Bogovađa.
The first group has already achieved remarkable results — progress in self-confidence, socialization, and everyday life skills. This shows how much experiences like these mean, not only for the children, but also for their families.”

“I would especially like to thank the running community and everyone who supported the ‘SMS for a Kilometer’ campaign.”
“By sending the message HEROJI to 3023, many people quite literally turned the kilometers they ran into someone’s smile and shared moments in nature.
Thank you to everyone who showed that **humanity has the power to move not only the heart, but society as well.”
The summer stay at the resort in Bogovađa represents not only a period of recovery, but also a strong message of unity, inclusion, and support for those who need it the most.
