OUR IDEA

The Belgrade Marathon, as the most massive sports event in Serbia, with a tradition spanning
nearly four decades, has gained exceptional reputation both domestically and internationally. The
fact that the Belgrade Marathon is included in the calendar of World Athletics and has the status
of an event of special importance for the City of Belgrade adds to the importance of this
prestigious race.

The significant impact and overwhelmingly positive image enjoyed not only among runners but
also in the broader public led the Belgrade Marathon to channel its influence in the noblest way
possible—by serving social responsibility. Inspired by the world’s major marathons, the ‘Heroes
of the Belgrade Marathon’ foundation was established.

OUR GOALS

The ‘Heroes of the Belgrade Marathon’ foundation has set clear goals for itself, firmly
determined to provide the greatest possible contribution precisely in those segments of
humanitarian and socially responsible engagement.

The main goals of the foundation are the protection and improvement of humanitarian activities,
sustainable development, amateur sports, the environment, and animals. A special focus is on the
protection and improvement of the position of people with disabilities, on the protection and
improvement of care for children and young people, as well as support for the elderly.

The fact that the Belgrade Marathon is included in the calendar of World Athletics and has the
status of an event of special importance for the City of Belgrade adds to the importance of this
prestigious race.

Having an immense influence and an extremely positive image enjoyed not only by the racing
population but also by the entire public, the Belgrade Marathon wanted to use its influence in the
noblest possible way and put it at the service of social responsibility. For this reason, and looking
up to the world’s largest marathons, the humanitarian foundation ‘Heroes of the Belgrade
Marathon’ was established.
