The Belgrade Marathon was held for the 38th time on the streets of our capital on April 6 this year.At the traditional \u201cHeroes of the Belgrade Marathon\u201d event, the organizers of the largest sporting event in Serbia expressed their gratitude to everyone who contributed to ensuring that the event took place in the best possible manner and once again met the highest standards of world and European athletics. <\/p>\n\n

With as many as 14,000 runners on the course, the record for the number of participants was once again broken. The women\u2019s marathon record, which had stood for 25 years, was also broken\u2014by nearly three minutes.The 10 km, 21 km, and 42 km races brought together more than 2,500 competitors from 74 countries around the world. <\/p>\n\n

In addition to the main patrons of the event\u2014the City of Belgrade, the City Secretariat for Sport and Youth, the Secretariat for Defense Affairs, Emergency Situations and Coordination, the Ministry of Sport, the Serbian Athletics Federation, and the Red Cross Belgrade\u2014plaques of appreciation were also presented to all sponsors and partners of the Belgrade Marathon.Approximately 3,000 people took part in organizing this year\u2019s event. <\/p>\n\n

The Heroes of the Belgrade Marathon 2025 are: <\/p>\n\n

  • Vlada Stevanovi\u0107 (91) and his guide Milomir Konotar<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Tijana Markovi\u0107, representative of Special Olympics<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Nenad Per\u010devi\u0107, a half marathon runner living with cerebral palsy<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Nela Bun\u010di\u0107 Vukomanovi\u0107, an influencer who ran a half marathon shortly after giving birth<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Milan Petrovi\u0107, a blind marathon runner, and his guide Dejan Ivankovi\u0107<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Vesela Ma\u010dki\u0107, a teacher at the \u201cMihajlo Pupin\u201d Primary School, who motivated a large number of children to participate in the marathon and teaches them the importance of practicing sports<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Zoja Milinkovi\u0107, a girl with cerebral palsy who completed the half marathon<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Lazar Makulovi\u0107, a wheelchair half marathoner<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Milena Mo\u0161i\u0107 \u0110or\u0111evi\u0107, who completed the 10 km race in a wheelchair with the help of Sreten Spasi\u0107<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Aleksandar Koshchavtsev, who completed the half marathon on a specially adapted bicycle<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Milica Kne\u017eevi\u0107, a wheelchair half marathon runner, and her partner Dragan Bjeli\u0107<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Ivana Planojevi\u0107 and Sne\u017eana Vesovi\u0107 completed the 21 km race in wheelchairs with the support of the outstanding team from the Belgrade Sports Association for Persons with Disabilities.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Nina Portolan, who completed the marathon race in a wheelchair, and her guide Jovan Supurovi\u0107.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Represent Communications, the first company to purchase all the kilometers run by its employees, thereby supporting the work of the \u201cHeroes of the Belgrade Marathon\u201d Foundation.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n

    A special story of the 38th Comtrade Belgrade Marathon belongs to Milivoj Janji\u0107, a long-time runner who collapsed from a heart attack just 200 meters before the finish line. He was unconscious and without vital signs, but his life was saved thanks to the swift and professional response of Belgrade Red Cross volunteers Dario Vidosavljevi\u0107, Vuk Vujo\u0161evi\u0107, Andrej Simonovi\u0107, Vasilije Tubi\u0107, Du\u0161an Mljkovi\u0107, as well as Dr. Dragana Jovanovi\u0107, an anesthesiologist from the Military Medical Academy, who happened to be in the audience.All of them were rightfully rewarded with thunderous applause and standing ovations. <\/p>\n\n

    \u201cThrough this event, we celebrate those who have shown by their example that the Belgrade Marathon is not just a sporting event. It is a race for people, with people, and because of people. The Heroes of the Belgrade Marathon give this event its soul and turn Belgrade into a symbol of solidarity, resilience, and togetherness. Their humanity and warmth are what make our city breathe differently during those days. They are the reason why the Belgrade Marathon has something that cannot be measured by a stopwatch \u2013 it has heart. This ceremony is made even more special as today we also mark the second anniversary of the \u2018Heroes of the Belgrade Marathon\u2019 Foundation.\u201d <\/p>\n\n

    Special plaques were also awarded to the humanitarian partners and friends of the Belgrade Marathon: the Belgrade Sports Association for Persons with Disabilities, the \u201cLive Healthy\u201d Academy, and the Special Olympics Serbia.<\/p>\n\n
