Belgrade Half Marathon, a panel discussion dedicated to motivation, health, and supporting sport through unity was held. During the event, a strategic partnership and mutual support agreement was also signed between the Belgrade Marathon and Sava Insurance. <\/p>\n
The event, which brought together prominent experts, sports professionals, and leaders from the business community, through three thematic sessions, led to a shared goal \u2013 encouraging an active and healthy lifestyle.<\/p>\n
The panel initially focused on practical aspects of health prevention through the session titled \u201cHealth and Supplementation \u2013 Strength for an Active Life.\u201d This segment brought together renowned experts who highlighted the importance of proper nutrition and dietary supplementation in maintaining high levels of energy and vitality.
The discussion featured Dr. Olina Duda\u0161ova Petrovi\u010deva, research associate at the Faculty of Pharmacy in Belgrade and an expert in sports supplementation, MSc Pharm. Admir Jazvin, Regional Marketing Manager at AbelaPharm, and Milan Zari\u0107, Master Professor of Sport and Physical Education.
The emphasis was placed on scientifically grounded approaches to supplementation as support for both everyday and athletic activities, as well as on the need for better regulation of the market. <\/p>\n
The second part of the panel, titled \u201cThe Art of Courage \u2013 Stories That Inspire,\u201d was dedicated to personal narratives that motivate and encourage positive change. The session served as a powerful reminder for everyone present to recognize the strength of personal perseverance.
Marathon runner Milan Petrovi\u0107, Marija Mati\u0107, and Arsen Arsenovi\u0107 shared their dramatic life stories, demonstrating that disability is not a barrier to successfully engaging in sport. <\/p>\n
The final part of the discussion, titled \u201cCorporate Support for Sport \u2013 The Energy of Unity,\u201d focused on corporate social responsibility and the synergy between the business sector and the sports community.
Dragan Ocokolji\u0107 from Sava Insurance presented an example of best practices in corporate engagement within the local community. Branislava Simani\u0107, Director of the Entrepreneurship Sector at the Serbian Chamber of Commerce, spoke about the growing role of female leadership in supporting sports initiatives, while Darko Habu\u0161, Director of the Belgrade Marathon, emphasized the key role of strategic partnerships in organizing major sporting events of national importance. <\/p>\n
The overall conclusion of the event was that sport and health care are the foundation of an active, prosperous, and engaged society.<\/p>\n

The panel brought together experts in the fields of sport, medicine, and social inclusion, as well as inspiring female runners who shared their experiences and knowledge with the audience.<\/p>\n

In the first part of the panel, the speakers included cardiologist Dr. Milica Vuki\u0107evi\u0107, runners Bojana Kali\u010danin and Milica \u017divanovi\u0107, Jnana Prodanovi\u0107, coach of the BMR club, and Marijana Milo\u0161evi\u0107, a Nordic walking coach.<\/p>\n
The participants spoke about the importance of proper training, cardiovascular risks in women, metabolic changes during perimenopause and menopause, as well as the challenges related to nutrition and maintaining vitality.

In line with its core mission \u2013 improving the position and quality of life of persons with disabilities \u2013 the Heroes of the Belgrade Marathon Foundation, in cooperation with the Belgrade Sports Association for Persons with Disabilities and the Red Cross of Belgrade, supported the stay of a second group of children with disabilities at the Red Cross resort in Bogova\u0111a.<\/p>\n
This is the second consecutive year that children with disabilities have had the opportunity to spend time in nature, socialize, build confidence, and prepare for the upcoming autumn sports season.<\/p>\n
Darko Habu\u0161, Director of the Belgrade Marathon and Manager of the Heroes of the Belgrade Marathon Foundation, stated on this occasion:<\/p>\n
\u201cWe love it most when summer arrives, because we know we will be with the children at the camp in Bogova\u0111a. In general, the part of my work I value the most is the work through the Heroes of the Belgrade Marathon Foundation. The happiness shown by children and persons with disabilities when we provide them with support is immediate, sincere, and strongly motivating for all the steps that follow.\u201d <\/p>\n
\u201cToday we came to visit the kids at the camp. We just finished a football match, and it was exciting right until the very end.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cWhat is very important for us is that the children stay at the camp without their parents, with a strong focus on developing their socialization and various life skills.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cInterest in the camp is greater than last year, so we hope that next year we will have three or even four groups.\u201d<\/p>\n
The children\u2019s camp program is implemented thanks to the joint cooperation of the Heroes of the Belgrade Marathon Foundation, the Belgrade Sports Association for Persons with Disabilities, and the Red Cross of Belgrade.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe recovery stay of the first group, which was at the camp from July 1 to July 6, went excellently. This valuable cooperation with the Heroes of the Belgrade Marathon Foundation and the Belgrade Sports Association for Persons with Disabilities made it possible for a second group of children to enjoy nature, activities, and socializing, thanks to the donated funds.\u201d <\/p>\n

The first group of forty-four children, accompanied by their assistants, is spending the summer days in the greenery surrounding the resort, where they will spend six days training with professional and experienced coaches as part of their sports preparations for the upcoming season.<\/p>\n
The Heroes of the Belgrade Marathon Foundation has set improving the position of persons with disabilities as one of its primary goals.
On this occasion, together with the Red Cross of Belgrade and the Belgrade Sports Association for Persons with Disabilities, the foundations for the summer gathering in Bogova\u0111a were established in 2024, with the aim of enabling children with disabilities not only to prepare for the autumn sports season, but also to socialize and spend time together with special guests. <\/p>\n
This year, the camp was visited by singer Ana Stani\u0107, who joined the campers for a karaoke evening.
On that occasion, Ana said that she immediately accepted the invitation, adding:

I am also proud of our Foundation and its \u2018SMS for a Kilometer\u2019 campaign, through which **runners and their supporters donate funds to the Heroes of the Belgrade Marathon Foundation by sending SMS messages.\u201d <\/p>\n

\u201cHere in Bogova\u0111a, people learn and rest throughout the entire year, and now it is the turn of children with disabilities. Many thanks to the Heroes of the Belgrade Marathon Foundation, thanks to which the Red Cross of Belgrade, together with the Belgrade Sports Association for Persons with Disabilities, organizes recovery stays and social activities for children with disabilities. This initiative is important because it supports not only the children, but also their entire families, who have the opportunity to relax in a wonderful environment,\u201d said Dr. Milan Mirkovi\u0107, President of the Red Cross of Belgrade. <\/p>\n
Dra\u017eenko Mitrovi\u0107, President of the Association of Persons with Disabilities, said on this occasion that the stay of the association\u2019s members at the summer camp in Bogova\u0111a is very important, as their days are filled with sports activities, socializing, music, and various workshops.
\u201cThis is already the second consecutive year that we are spending the summer in Bogova\u0111a, and I believe it will be repeated many more times in the future. This initiative provides support not only to the children, but also to their caregivers, who through programs like this receive a special form of help and support.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ahead of the 5th Belgrade Half Marathon, another very interesting panel discussion was held at the Mona Plaza Hotel, organized by the \u201cHeroes of the Belgrade Marathon\u201d Foundation.<\/p>\n
The panel discussion was held under the theme:
\u201cSport, Health, Corporate Support and Social Responsibility in Focus: Mental Strength, Physical Preparation in Specific Conditions, Recovery, and the Power of Unity.\u201d<\/p>\n
Given the wide scope of the topics discussed, the panel was divided into four segments, and, as has become a tradition, it featured top-level speakers \u2014 outstanding professionals and highly accomplished individuals in their respective fields.<\/p>\n
The topic of corporate support in sport and the role of companies in promoting sports activities as a bridge between business and the community was discussed by Ivan Vitorovi\u0107, CEO of Mona Hospitality Management, \u0110or\u0111e Mijailovi\u0107, President of the Padel Federation of Serbia, and Nevena Ignjatovi\u0107, founder of the Ski Business League and Serbia\u2019s most successful alpine skier.<\/p>\n
The second part of the panel was dedicated to the theme \u201cSport, Health and Mental Strength: Preparation, Challenges and Recovery.\u201d Milica Petrovi\u0107, psychologist at Medigroup, and Lazar Makulovi\u0107, a wheelchair basketball player, spoke about the energy of the body and peace of mind, highlighting sport as a foundation of mental health. <\/p>\n
Mihail Duda\u0161, Sports Director of the Serbian Athletics Federation and a former successful athlete, provided a detailed perspective on the entire preparation process \u2014 from training to race day \u2014 as well as the motivation needed to achieve personal goals.
Dr. Daniel Pe\u0161i\u0107, PhD in Sports Medicine from the Military Medical Academy (VMA), spoke about preparation and training in specific conditions, with particular emphasis on their impact on the respiratory system, offering very useful advice for professional athletes.
Dr. Marija Trajkov, PhD in multidisciplinary sciences at Fizio Vra\u010dar, discussed post-marathon recovery, as well as planning and strategies for optimal regeneration and injury prevention.
In the third part of the panel, a lecture titled \u201cMotivation for Running and Participation in the Belgrade Marathon\u201d was delivered by Associate Professor Dr. Ivan \u0106uk from the Faculty of Sport and Physical Education at the University of Belgrade, while the final segment of the panel was dedicated to humanitarian work. <\/p>\n
On the topic \u201cThe Heart of the Community: Humanitarian Actions, Support for Persons with Disabilities, and the Importance of Donations for a More Inclusive Society,\u201d presentations were delivered by Igor Kova\u010devi\u0107, Professor of Physical Education and Sport, Nemanja Radovi\u0107, Secretary General of the Belgrade Sports Association for Persons with Disabilities, \u017deljko \u0106irkovi\u0107, President of the Singidunum Wheelchair Basketball Club, and Nikola Prica, Secretary General of the Red Cross. <\/p>\n
Igor Kova\u010devi\u0107 particularly addressed the topic of the power of unity and how humanitarian initiatives can change lives.
\u017deljko \u0106irkovi\u0107 and Nemanja Radovi\u0107 delivered very engaging presentations on the importance of support and creating opportunities for inclusion, explaining how donations empower persons with disabilities by enabling greater independence and equal participation in society.
Meanwhile, Nikola Prica, drawing on his extensive experience with the Red Cross, spoke about the importance of donations for vulnerable groups. <\/p>\n

The \u201cHeroes of the Belgrade Marathon\u201d Foundation, the Red Cross of Belgrade, and the Belgrade Sports Association for Persons with Disabilities, accompanied by basketball player Boban Marjanovi\u0107 and judoka Aleksandar Kukolj, today visited the Red Cross of Belgrade resort in Bogova\u0111a, where the first group of 50 persons with disabilities and their assistants is currently staying for sports training preparations.<\/p>\n
Since one of the primary goals of the \u201cHeroes of the Belgrade Marathon\u201d Humanitarian Foundation is the protection and improvement of the position of persons with disabilities, the Heroes of the Belgrade Marathon Foundation and the Red Cross of Belgrade have joined resources to support a total of 100 persons with disabilities from the Belgrade Sports Association for Persons with Disabilities, enabling them to adequately prepare for the autumn season under the guidance of experienced coaches.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe partnership we have developed with the Red Cross of Belgrade in providing protection and assistance to runners at all Belgrade Marathon races is at an exceptionally high level, and it has now grown into support for persons with disabilities currently staying at the camp here in Bogova\u0111a.
I would like to thank everyone who participated in raising funds for this initiative. I am especially proud of the activation we created, \u2018SMS for a Kilometer\u2019, through which runners and their supporters donate funds to the Heroes of the Belgrade Marathon Foundation by sending an SMS message. Sending the message HEROJI to 3023 means a great deal to all persons with disabilities.
I would also like to thank the Belgrade Sports Association for Persons with Disabilities, which continuously and very professionally works with persons with disabilities throughout the year. I hope that together we will manage to strengthen other associations across Serbia as well.
More than 500 persons with disabilities from across Serbia participate in the Belgrade Marathon, and that is why we are looking into organizing a special race for persons with disabilities, in order to further recognize and highlight their participation,\u201d said Darko Habu\u0161, Manager of the Heroes of the Belgrade Marathon Foundation, on this occasion. <\/p>\n
\u201cBogova\u0111a is a place where many of us grew up and which we have renovated and prepared for seminars, workshops, and similar events. Basketball player Boban Marjanovi\u0107 said on this occasion:
\u201cA smile brings us all together. We are here to bring smiles to the children and to leave this day as better people. When we are smiling, it is much easier to get through difficult times. My colleague Kukolj even taught me some new martial arts skills. I\u2019m glad to have been part of today, and I hope the kids enjoyed it as well. We had a match, we left our hearts on the court \u2014 and we won,\u201d Bobi joked at the end of his statement. <\/p>\n
Judoka Aleksandar Kukolj said:
\u201cI am delighted with the atmosphere here in Bogova\u0111a. Bobi and I were fortunate to spend time today with these wonderful children. I am aware of the importance of working with vulnerable groups and contributing in some way to improving the quality of their lives.
We also played a basketball game \u2014 Bobi, the kids and I against the officials. There were plenty of irregularities, but in the end, we won,\u201d Kukolj joked at the end. <\/p>\n

The \u201cHeroes of the Belgrade Marathon\u201d Foundation, the Red Cross of Belgrade, and the Belgrade Sports Association for Persons with Disabilities, accompanied by basketball player Boban Marjanovi\u0107 and judoka Aleksandar Kukolj, today visited the Red Cross of Belgrade resort in Bogova\u0111a, where the first group of 50 persons with disabilities and their assistants is currently staying for sports training preparations.<\/p>\n
Since one of the primary goals of the \u201cHeroes of the Belgrade Marathon\u201d Humanitarian Foundation is the protection and improvement of the position of persons with disabilities, the Heroes of the Belgrade Marathon Foundation and the Red Cross of Belgrade have joined resources to support a total of 100 persons with disabilities from the Belgrade Sports Association for Persons with Disabilities, enabling them to adequately prepare for the autumn season under the guidance of experienced coaches.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe partnership we have developed with the Red Cross of Belgrade in providing protection and assistance to runners at all Belgrade Marathon races is at an exceptionally high level, and it has now grown into support for persons with disabilities currently staying at the camp here in Bogova\u0111a.
I would like to thank everyone who participated in raising funds for this initiative. I am especially proud of the activation we created, \u2018SMS for a Kilometer\u2019, through which runners and their supporters donate funds to the Heroes of the Belgrade Marathon Foundation by sending an SMS message. Sending the message HEROJI to 3023 means a great deal to all persons with disabilities.
I would also like to thank the Belgrade Sports Association for Persons with Disabilities, which continuously and very professionally works with persons with disabilities throughout the year. I hope that together we will manage to strengthen other associations across Serbia as well.
More than 500 persons with disabilities from across Serbia participate in the Belgrade Marathon, and that is why we are looking into organizing a special race for persons with disabilities, in order to further recognize and highlight their participation,\u201d said Darko Habu\u0161, Manager of the Heroes of the Belgrade Marathon Foundation, on this occasion. <\/p>\n
\u201cBogova\u0111a is a place where many of us grew up and which we have renovated and prepared for seminars, workshops, and similar events. Today we are here for the recovery stay of children with disabilities, and I would like to sincerely thank all the compassionate people whose support made it possible for them to be here today.
I believe that the Red Cross workshops we will organize will be beneficial both for the children and their parents, helping them prepare for various challenges in life. I would like to invite all successful individuals in their professions to set aside some time and dedicate themselves to humanitarian work through different activities.
That is why I would also like to thank Bobi and Aleksandar for being here with us today,\u201d said Dr. Milan Mirkovi\u0107 on behalf of the Red Cross of Belgrade. <\/p>\n
Dra\u017eenko Mitrovi\u0107 spoke about the importance of this initiative for the members of the Belgrade Sports Association for Persons with Disabilities:
\u201cThank you all for your support \u2014 above all, this is a wonderful opportunity for socializing. For these children, it means a great deal to take part in this sports and recreational program, which includes recovery activities, a rich workshop program, and time for socializing.\u201d <\/p>\n
Basketball player Boban Marjanovi\u0107 said on this occasion:
\u201cA smile brings us all together. We are here to bring smiles to the children and to leave this day as better people. When we are smiling, it is much easier to get through difficult times. My colleague Kukolj even taught me some new martial arts skills. I\u2019m glad to have been part of today, and I hope the kids enjoyed it as well. We had a match, we left our hearts on the court \u2014 and we won,\u201d Bobi joked at the end of his statement. <\/p>\n
Judoka Aleksandar Kukolj said:
\u201cI am delighted with the atmosphere here in Bogova\u0111a. Bobi and I were fortunate to spend time today with these wonderful children. I am aware of the importance of working with vulnerable groups and contributing in some way to improving the quality of their lives.
We also played a basketball game \u2014 Bobi, the kids and I against the officials. There were plenty of irregularities, but in the end, we won,\u201d Kukolj joked at the end. <\/p>\n

Ahead of the 28th Dexy Co Children\u2019s Marathon, an engaging panel discussion titled \u201cRewarding Children in Sport\u201d was held at the Tigri\u0107 Caf\u00e9 in the Belgrade Zoo. <\/p>\n
The panel was hosted by the \u201cNovak \u0110okovi\u0107\u201d Foundation, with the support of the \u201cHeroes of the Belgrade Marathon\u201d Foundation.
The discussion featured Darko Habu\u0161, Director of the Comtrade Belgrade Marathon, Andrija Geri\u0107, sports psychologist and former volleyball player, and Nemanja Radovi\u0107, Secretary General of the Belgrade Sports Association for Persons with Disabilities.<\/p>\n
The panel was moderated by Ana Jovanovi\u0107 from the \u201cNovak \u0110okovi\u0107\u201d Foundation, author of the program \u201cPath of Champions.\u201d<\/p>\n
In a very engaging discussion, Darko Habu\u0161, Director of the Belgrade Marathon, spoke about a special award given to the slowest participant in the final race of the Children\u2019s Marathon, held on the famous course around the elephant enclosure.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhen we tell that child that they have received the \u2018Super Snail\u2019 award, even though they were the slowest, they are often happier than the winner. That is the moment we want to create for children.
Winning is not the most important thing \u2014 it is a phrase we often hear \u2014 but in this way we truly want to show them that participation is what matters most,\u201d said Habu\u0161. <\/p>\n
\u201cIt is clear that in professional sport the result is the most important, but when it comes to children, the main point should be participation in sports activities and making an effort. Science tells us that adults should help children develop a growth mindset, which essentially means encouraging them to try and keep improving, because effort will eventually lead to results,\u201d concluded Geri\u0107, before adding: <\/p>\n
\u201cThere are competitions today where everyone receives a medal, and I believe that is not the right approach. If everyone gets a medal, what message does that send? Whether you made an effort or not, you still receive a medal \u2014 and children remember that very easily, which may lead them to think that things in life work the same way. But that is not true.
My message to parents is to encourage and praise their children, but the focus should not be on the result; instead, it should be on participation and effort.\u201d <\/p>\n
Nemanja Radovi\u0107, Secretary General of the Belgrade Sports Association for Persons with Disabilities, shared his perspective on this topic:<\/p>\n
\u201cOur association has existed for 53 years and brings together a large number of persons with disabilities. For us, the primary goals are the health and socialization of our participants, and that is why at our competitions everyone is considered a winner. Awards are very important.
At one of our athletics competitions, one participant finished fourth and did not win a medal, but he received a special participation award. When I placed that medal around his neck, he went outside the stadium and started jumping with joy,\u201d said Radovi\u0107, before adding: <\/p>\n
\u201cThe greatest reward for our participants is the feeling that they are treated with dignity and humanity, because they know that with us they can live their lives in a meaningful and fulfilling way. What represents a problem for us is pity, which they do not need \u2014 what they need is understanding.
That is exactly what we receive through our cooperation with the Belgrade Marathon, for example, where we have been equal participants for many years, which is why we have been long-standing partners.
The primary goal of engaging in sport should be health, and only afterwards come the awards and results,\u201d concluded Radovi\u0107. <\/p>\n
The \u201cHeroes of the Belgrade Marathon\u201d Foundation will continue to cooperate with the \u201cNovak \u0110okovi\u0107\u201d Foundation in the future on this and similar projects.<\/p>\n

The \u201cHeroes of the Belgrade Marathon\u201d Humanitarian Foundation is proud to take part in another outstanding project dedicated to supporting persons with disabilities.
The project \u201cCelebrating Together\u201d will be implemented in cooperation with the Belgrade Sports Association for Persons with Disabilities, with the aim of bringing children with and without disabilities closer together through a series of activities in primary schools and preschool institutions. <\/p>\n
Our primary mission is to provide help and support in creating conditions for the inclusive development of preschool and school-aged children, while also encouraging children with disabilities to actively participate in various extracurricular activities, including those organized by the Belgrade Sports Association for Persons with Disabilities.<\/p>\n
The project includes the organization of workshops titled \u201cStep Into My Shoes,\u201d through which children will get to know each other better and build closer connections through shared play and activities.
The goal of these activities is to help children without disabilities better understand and connect with their peers with disabilities, who are sometimes marginalized by their peers. <\/p>\n

At the initiative of the Heroes of the Belgrade Marathon Foundation, a workshop with persons with developmental disabilities was held on Tuesday, October 31, 2023, during which participants painted T-shirts for the Sava Insurance Family Race, which will take place as part of the 4th Belgrade Half Marathon, scheduled for November 26, 2023, in cooperation with the Serbian Athletics Federation.
The Heroes of the Belgrade Marathon Foundation invites all people of goodwill to support this humanitarian initiative by donating funds and receiving a T-shirt, which they can wear while participating in the race. In this way, participants will support persons with disabilities and actively contribute to inclusion.
The goal is to bring together as many families as possible to take part in the Family Race, while teaching the youngest participants to embrace diversity and uphold true values. <\/p>\n
Race bibs for the Sava Insurance Family Race will be collected together with the T-shirt after the donation, and all participants who receive a race bib will also take part in the Sava Insurance lottery.
\u201cOur goal is to incorporate a humanitarian aspect into all races organized by the Belgrade Marathon, and that is one of the key missions of the Heroes of the Belgrade Marathon Foundation. Today, we want to send a message that 730,000 people in Serbia are persons with disabilities, which represents around 10% of the population. Statistical data show that only 13% of them are employed, and that many live in poverty. Among the most vulnerable are persons with developmental disabilities. That is why supporting organizations such as De\u010dje srce (Children\u2019s Heart) is extremely important for the inclusion of persons with disabilities,\u201d said Darko Habu\u0161, Director of the Belgrade Marathon, after the workshop. <\/p>\n

Donations and the collection of race bibs and T-shirts are available at the Registration Center in Galerija Shopping Center, 23. 24. and on November 25, as well as on race day in the pre-start area.<\/p>\n
The humanitarian organization De\u010dje srce (Children\u2019s Heart) was founded in 2001 with the aim of providing support to persons with developmental disabilities and their families.
Significant results have been achieved through the implementation of various project activities, the provision of social protection services, and innovative programs designed to help persons with developmental disabilities become more independent. <\/p>\n

The Sava Insurance Family Race, held as part of the 4th Belgrade Half Marathon on November 26, 2023, on the streets of our capital city, had a humanitarian character. <\/p>\n
In this unique 2.3-kilometre race, everyone could take part without any restrictions \u2014 either by running or walking together with their families and friends.<\/p>\n
By participating in the race, runners contributed to the promotion of sport and physical activity as one of the most effective methods of preventing non-communicable diseases.
At the same time, everyone who wished had the opportunity to show their humanitarian spirit by making a donation to support persons with developmental disabilities and the humanitarian organization \u201cChildren\u2019s Heart.\u201d <\/p>\n
At the initiative of the \u201cHeroes of the Belgrade Marathon\u201d Foundation, a workshop with persons with developmental disabilities was previously organized, during which T-shirts for the Sava Insurance Family Race were hand-painted.
Everyone who wished could receive their own T-shirt by making a donation of at least 1,000 dinars, featuring designs created by the very individuals for whom this support was intended. <\/p>\n
The funds collected through this initiative, totaling 130,540.00 dinars, were transferred to the account of the humanitarian organization \u201cChildren\u2019s Heart\u201d, which will use them to support persons with disabilities and help meet their needs.
Thank you for the support you provided to this humanitarian initiative. <\/p>\n

The successful cooperation between the Belgrade Marathon and the Belgrade Sports Association for Persons with Disabilities has continued. Thanks to the \u201cHeroes of the Belgrade Marathon\u201d Humanitarian Foundation, funds were secured and used for the purchase and installation of exercise equipment adapted for persons with disabilities. <\/span><\/p>\n The exercise equipment was installed at the outdoor facilities of the \u201cOlimp\u201d Sports Center in Zvezdara.
